I just want to wish everyone happy holidays and a great new year. New posts will be light over the next week, but next year should be good with some new product reviews, a re-designed TVHarmony Product Tracker with some helpful new features, and some new articles and How To’s that some will find useful.
Happy Holidays!

Most people have heard by now that Target has banned the Salvation Army from putting out their kettles this year which will make it much more difficult for them to raise funds. I can, at times, understand the business reason for this at Target, but it’s still a shame.
Hearing the bellringers outside stores is something I can remember even as a little pup, and it’s indelibly etched in my memory along with all those other religious and secular symbols of the holiday season. While shopping malls and mega-parking strip malls have in many places replaced the downtown square, the Salvation Army has moved along with them. I guess courtrooms and boardrooms are a little harder to navigate.
We don’t have the ringing wav file, but we do have a link as our featured sponsor, so if you feel inclined, feel free to use it to make a small donation.
We’ve encountered a string of bad luck when it comes to server equipment and we’ve had some major outages lately. Hopefully, everything is now up and running but I apologize if there are additional problems in the near future. Please bear with me if things continue to be a little shaky for the next day or so.
Given my nasty head cold and the upcoming holidays (the two always seem to travel in tandem), posting will be light through the rest of the week. There are plenty of product reviews and analysis on tap after the Thanksgiving holiday, so enjoy your turkey and visit us next week. If you are a glutton for information, you might want to try out the TVHarmony News Tracker which is continually updated from Yahoo RSS feeds.
Happy Thanksgiving!
We’ve added another resource to the website which aggregates the latest unfiltered news headlines on a variety of topics. There’s a link on the left but you can also click here to try it out.
I’ve added a new resource for people researching products called the TVHarmony Product Tracker. It includes the latest reviews, news items, interesting links, and specs for all the various products that I’ve run across and found interesting, and I’m sure I’ll be adding a lot more products to the mix as the weeks go by. I plan on updating it on a weekly basis to keep it fresh and fill in more details.
At this point, I should also note that if you click through many of the links in the “street price” section, TVHarmony gets a tiny commission that will go towards maintaining this website. Don’t feel obligated to purchase through any of the links, but if you do some comparison shopping and still find the price comparable, I always appreciate the support.
I’ve been reading through the Tivo RewardsTM Terms and Conditions, and while you can’t share referral points, I don’t see anything against the program that prevents us from pooling referrals and giving away the prizes through some form of random drawing. Unless I hear from Tivo, here is the TVHarmony Tivo Rewards Prize Pool:

Apologies for recent website outages over the last few days. Hopefully we’ve resolved the problem and will be trouble-free (ed note: yeah, right) in the future.
This site is intended to be a discussion of the convergence between computer technology and the home. I’ve been a technologist and software developer for over 15 years, and while I’ve always been interested in gadgets and cool electronic gizmos, my interest in this area were piqued about a year ago when my wife bought me a Tivo as a gift, and I soon realized the value of utilizing PC technology in the living room.
